Family & Children’s Services (FCS) and Child Advocacy Network (CAN) have partnered to increase mental health treatment services available to families in the Tulsa area. As a result of the partnership, Child Abuse and Trauma Services (CATS), a program of FCS, will be embedded in a newly designed CAN facility. This arrangement will provide families with immediate access to therapists and care coordinators.
CATS has provided trauma-informed mental health treatment services for CAN for decades. Such treatment is a requirement for a child advocacy center (CAC). As a result of the partnership between the two organizations, service providers within CAN will be able to provide crisis, assessment, treatment and care coordination services to clients. CAN may also refer families needing mental health services to CATS via a direct referral process. The CATS staff will be accessible to all service providers within CAN for collaboration in treatment teams and service partnerships.
“We are incredibly excited about being able to provide onsite therapy and care coordination services in addition to being a member of the CAN Multidisciplinary Team as a mental health provider,” said Christine Marsh, CATS Chief Program Officer. “We appreciate the welcome and energy the CAN team and providers have created in the new center.”
CAN has undergone a significant transformation to serve the community better and empower survivors of abuse. This transformation supports CAN’s commitment to advocating for the rights and well-being of children. Now known as the Child Advocacy Network, CAN anticipates the partnership with FCS will support CAN’s mission to advocate for young survivors and create a safe haven for victims of abuse.
“A pivotal moment has begun in our community’s journey toward ensuring the safety and well-being of our children and families. The partnership between the Child Advocacy Network and the Family Safety Center, culminating in the establishment of a soon-to-be unified campus, represents a beacon of hope and support for families in need,” said CAN President and CEO Maura Guten.
This project is being supported, in part, by federal award number SLT-1498, awarded to the City of Tulsa by the U.S. Department of Treasury.
