This month, 17 extraordinary women proudly graduated from the Family & Children’s Services Women in Recovery (WIR) program, marking a milestone that represents far more than a certificate. Each graduate walked across the stage with courage, determination and a story of transformation.
Together, these women are mothers to 33 children and grandmothers to five grandchildren, underscoring the program’s powerful role in family reunification. Collectively, they have overcome 228 years of addiction and avoided 139 years of incarceration, saving Oklahoma taxpayers millions while breaking the cycle of addiction and incarceration.
Instead of serving prison sentences, these women invested in themselves by healing from trauma, sustaining recovery, building job skills and restoring bonds with their children. Today, every graduate is employed full-time, living in safe housing and working toward reunification with their families. Their achievements speak volumes. Six graduates earned their GEDs, and two completed welding certifications. Careers now span supervisory roles, hospitality, senior care, welding, CNC machining and entrepreneurship. In addition to these accomplishments, 12 graduates plan to pursue further education.
These women have turned resilience into action and hope into reality. WIR will continue to support them through our Continuing Care program, ensuring they have the tools to thrive. To our funders, supporters, volunteers and partners, thank you for making these life-changing successes possible. Together, we are rewriting futures.
