Last month, the dedicated staff of Family & Children’s Services braved the cold to join in the 46th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Parade on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Organized by the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration Society, the parade’s theme this year was “Tulsa: The Dream in Motion.” The event showcased over 120 floats and participants of all ages, paying tribute to Dr. King’s enduring legacy.
Since its establishment in 1978, the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration Society has been a community cornerstone, offering direct programming, leadership development, civic engagement, and artistic expression to more than 20,000 youth in Tulsa, Tulsa County, and the surrounding areas. Additionally, the Society has awarded $132,000 in scholarships over the past 30 years to local high school graduates who strive to realize Dr. King’s dream.
