Central Oklahoma Community Mental Health Center

Family & Children’s Services (FCS) is now operating the Central Oklahoma Mental Health Center (COCMHC), serving Cleveland County. Services for more than 2,500 clients will continue, marking the completion of a planned transition from the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services.

Clients will continue seeing their current clinicians, medical professionals and support staff they know and can participate in their existing groups at the same location.

“We are dedicated to continuing and building upon the trusted care provided in Cleveland County for decades,” said FCS CEO Adam Andreassen. “We want the community to know that they can depend on Family & Children’s Services, and our goal is not simply to maintain vital access to care, but over time, bring additional resources, programs and opportunities to the individuals and families who rely on these services.”

Cleveland County is home to an estimated 303,973 people, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2025 population estimate. Approximately 80 percent are adults. Applying Oklahoma’s 2022 to 2023 statewide prevalence rate for adults experiencing any mental illness or substance use disorder suggests that more than 81,000 Cleveland County adults may need mental health or recovery support in a given year.

FCS was established in 1921 and has served Oklahomans for 105 years, providing mental health, substance abuse and wellness services to adults, children and families through more than 70 programs and services, including 24/7 crisis care and stabilization. COCMHC is the nation’s first facility of its kind, created during the Community Mental Health Act of 1963. COCMHC became a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic in June 2022 and has a long history of providing community-based programs in Cleveland County, working with an extensive network of community partners spanning health care, schools, law enforcement, the judicial system, housing, veterans’ services and other service organizations.
