Internships and Practicums


TRAINING THE NEXT GENERATION OF PROFESSIONALS

Family & Children’s Services values the future of mental healthcare and is committed to strengthening the skills of the next generation of professionals.

We partner with area universities to provide an array of undergraduate and graduate student internships or practicums in the fields of counseling, child trauma and mental health treatment for adults and children. Based on our core values of evidence-based treatments, service excellent and continuous learning and innovation, students can develop core competencies, clinical practice skills and professional confidence under the supportive supervision of experienced clinical supervisors with various specializations.

 


INTERNSHIPS

Interns are welcomed and encouraged to participate in the vast array of training and professional development opportunities our agency provides. If accepted into our high caliber, long-standing internship program, you will be expected to complete a minimum of 200 hours. Additionally, if accepted into the program, interns will need to provide a clear OSBI background check.

 


MASTERS LEVEL STIPEND APPLICATION ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Masters level applicants may also apply for a limited number of student stipends. Stipends require a one-semester commitment, but applicants may request an additional semester.

Applicants must:

  • Be enrolled in a state/nationally-approved counseling program (CACREP or CSWE approved)
  • Be a second year (graduating) master’s intern Possess an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Be interested in interning in an F&CS program that wants assistance in filling its vacancies by incentivizing potential new recruits – School-Based, Child Abuse & Trauma Services, CrisisCare Center, Intake/Specialized Outpatient Services, COPES

STIPEND APPLICATION DUE DATES

  • Spring: September 15

  • Fall: May 1

Evidence-based programs utilized at Family & Children’s Services include: Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Seeking Safety, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychological First Aid, Parent-Child Interaction Therapy, Child-Parent Psychotherapy, and Individual, Family, Marital Therapy.
