What is Family & Children's Services?
F&CS has been a resource for families and children in the Tulsa area for more than 80 years. Believing in families and helping them to build strong foundations for brighter futures is what we are all about.
We offer a wide variety of counseling, education and prevention programs designed to strengthen and promote the well-being of families, children, individuals, and communities.

What are Individual, Family, and Group counseling?
F&CS uses a results-oriented approach to solving problems. We serve adults and children on an individual basis, as couples, as families, and in groups of people with similar issues who can benefit from each others' experiences. We can help you tap unrealized resources in generating solutions for many types of problems. The average number of sessions is four to five - and sometimes only one.

Who is eligible for services?
Our professional services are offered regardless of race, religion, gender, age or income to all who live or work in the Tulsa Metropolitan Area.

Who are the therapists?
All our therapy services are provided by a competent staff of social workers, marriage and family therapists, professional counselors, and other specialists who hold Master's or Ph.D. degrees in their specific fields. Staff members are experienced, licensed, and receive ongoing training and education.

Are visits confidential?
Absolutely. Our professional services are strictly confidential. Your presence at the agency and the issues you discuss are private. Information may be released only with your written consent or when the agency is legally mandated to provide such information.

How much do services cost?
Many of our programs are free of charge to participants. Education classes vary from $10 to $35. Counseling fees are calculated by using a sliding fee scale that is based on your total gross family income and the number of people in your family. Please notify us if you have health insurance that covers outpatient counseling or psychotherapy. We will file the claim on your behalf. Family & Children's Services is a provider for Medicaid, Medicare and many managed care companies.

How do I make an appointment?
For Head Start, call (918) 585-3227. For all other programs, call our Central Office at (918) 587-9471. We have nine offices located throughout Tulsa and surrounding communities. Hours vary by location. We offer evening and Saturday appointments at some locations.

Does F&CS have an adoption service?
Although F&CS does not offer an adoption service, we help facilitate the placement of children currently in foster care into permanent homes. By assisting with exit interviews and paperwork, we help the Department of Human Services place children quicker and more efficiently.

Can F&CS help businesses and industry?
Yes. Our Speaker's Bureau, Critical Incident Management Services and Employee Assistance Programs are available to all area business. Services are individually tailored to employers' needs and can include seminars, counseling, employee training, and management consultation.
