Anger, confusion and fear paralyzed Sharon*. Both her husband and mother had cancer, she was barely on speaking terms with her siblings and another relative had serious legal problems. Sharon was overwhelmed, emotionally unstable and making herself physically ill.

With the help of a therapist at Family & Children’s Services, Sharon learned healthy new ways to face her difficult life circumstances. She developed skills to help her limit negative thinking and cope with her loved ones’ illnesses. Learning how to prioritize and taking a pragmatic approach to family relations reduced Sharon’s stress level and helped her be more productive. Sharon’s mental and physical health have improved markedly.
