When a child suffers abuse or endures significant trauma, the whole family is impacted. Family & Children’s Services coordinates mental health and community services to help restore the function of traumatized children with serious emotional disturbances and to strengthen the often overwhelmed families of such children.
Through the Systems of Care, we serve children ages 0-18 who have experienced severe neglect, physical abuse, sexual abuse, separation from a parent/caregiver or other traumas. Children in the program also have a mental health or co-occurring diagnosis and are at risk of being removed from their residential or educational environment.
Family & Children’s Services works with community partners to identify children and families who may be eligible for Systems of Care participation. An emphasis is placed on being accessible and culturally sensitive to children and families of Hispanic, African American, Native American heritage and other underserved populations.
