A mother was referred to our Active Parenting for Teens class in order to learn better ways of connecting with her 14-year-old daughter. Mary* reported that there was little-to-no communication between them and had daily conflict. She was initially skeptical as to whether parenting classes would be helpful; however, only two sessions in she eagerly shared her progress with the rest of the group.  She had been implementing the techniques discussed, and she and her daughter were having great conversations with one another as a result. Even better, Mary* happily described how her daughter had given her a warm hug one day after school “for no reason”. She stated “it’s been years since she did something like that!”
