Winners of 17th Annual F&CS Poster
Contest
TULSA, Okla., Nov. 19, 2009 - Winners from Family & Children's Services' 17th annual
Poster Contest will be honored tonight during an awards ceremony at the
agency's Central Office, 650 S. Peoria Ave. The contest, which was open to area
youth in kindergarten through 12th grade, was themed Families Still Matter in commemoration of the agency's upcoming
85th anniversary.
"At Family & Children's Services, we believe in
strengthening families and bringing them hope," said Gail Lapidus, F&CS
chief executive officer. "This contest gave children the opportunity to reflect
on what family means to them, and their artwork proves that families do still
matter in our community."
Ken Busby, executive director of the Arts & Humanities
Council of Tulsa, will serve as emcee at the event and discuss the importance
of family and the joy children's art brings to the community.
Winners received cash prizes, and their entries will be
permanently displayed in Family & Children's Services' offices throughout
Tulsa and surrounding communities. The grand prize poster will be featured on
the cover of the December 2009 issue of TulsaKids magazine.
The contest was presented by Jenny and Jono Helmerich and
