Agency History
An excerpt from a letter our agency received when founded in 1925.

"Dear Family Welfare Society,
I do not know if you can help me or not, but I hope you can. I am one of those many unfortunate women who married young and made the awful mistake of marrying a ne'er do well. I have five children and about every four or five months we go on a diet -- compelled by poverty. My oldest child, age eight, has never been to school. It nearly kills me. What I want to know is, is there any organization or society that will protect me and my children when I try to rise up out of poverty and suffering that is so needless? It is the start that is hard."

Nearly a Century of Serving Tulsa Families
& Making Our Community Stronger

Since our founding in 1925 as the Family Welfare Society, we've been devoted to strengthening families and being a force of good in our community. Over the years, the range of services we provide has grown, but our commitment to excellent, compassionate care and counseling has never wavered.

From helping families in crisis, to serving people struggling with mental illness, addiction and homelessness, we are constantly evolving to address the unique issues our neighbors face.

But our promise to the community has always remained the same. We're dedicated to providing targeted, innovative programs that deliver real results. We're committed to giving families and individuals renewed hope in the face of despair.

And as always, we thank the friends of Family & Children's Services for being part of such an important journey.
