What is ADD?
Attention Deficit Disorder is a neurobiological developmental disorder affecting both children and adults characterized by inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity. Children and adults with ADD/HD can lead very successful lives. However, early identification and proper treatment are instrumental in avoiding potential problems including school failure, family stress, depression, substance abuse and relationship difficulties.
ADD/HD Screening
We provide ADD/HD screening for children and adults in Tulsa County, beginning at age 4. Our thorough screening process seeks to identify individuals who have attention disorders. Because other temporary or chronic conditions can appear to be ADD/HD, our screening process rules out other diagnoses and identifies those that may complicate or magnify an attention disorder. These other conditions include depression, anxiety, Tourette's Disorder and bi-polar disorder.
Our ADD/HD screening is available on a sliding-scale fee, based on income. If you qualify, services may be provided at no cost to you. We also accept Medicaid, Medicare and other health insurances.
You may consider an ADD/HD assessment if your child:
While many children may exhibit one or more of these symptoms on occasion, children with ADD/HD experience the symptoms more frequently and more severely than other children their age. A comprehensive, professional evaluation is necessary to determine an ADD/HD diagnosis.
Family Counseling
Family & Children's Services also provides counseling to families of children with ADD/HD. Our counselors work with families to reduce current behavior problems and the development of further difficulties that can stem from an attention disorder.
