“Claudia represents the true spirit of social work,” said Gail Lapidus, executive director and CEO of F&CS, who praised Arthrell for her pioneering work developing and implementing Helping Children Cope with Divorce, a resource that helps parents lessen the impact of divorce on children.

Arthrell, senior director of professional services, has been with F&CS for more than 35 years. She has worked as a therapist, supervisor, program developer and trainer.

“She worked for many years advocating for the family court to adopt child- and family-friendly policies and practices during contentious divorce or other family court legal matters,” Lapidus said. “And she’s played an integral role for two decades as a program developer for F&CS in crisis management, family therapy, parenting and educational programming.”

Arthrell oversees three court programs, F&CS internships, and the agency’s divorce and education efforts, in addition to conducting seminars in stress management, psychological first aid and helping children cope with divorce.

She has her master’s in social work from OU’s School of Social Work, is a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers, and is a licensed clinical social worker.
