The Laureate Institute for Brain Research (LIBR) has partnered with Family & Children’s Services to understand how the brain functions in adults with neuropsychiatric disorders to improve mental health. Research studies aim to discover the biological basis for psychiatric disorders such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder and Major Depressive Disorder. MRIs will make images of the brain and these images will help researchers understand how the brain processes emotion, memory, motivation and stress.

Jill Young, F&CS Chief Program Office Adult Outpatient Mental Health Services, says, “The goal is that through brain scan results and research we can develop specific treatment pathways which lead to earlier intervention and an improved recovery rate.”
