On December 14, 2012, Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut became the site of America’s second-deadliest school shooting. Nearly three weeks after the tragedy, individuals are still struggling to understand why it happened and what role, if any, mental illness might have played. Nationwide, the incident has led to tough dinner table discussions and thoughtful examinations of community safety and resources.
